HomeMobile ListingsText Only Messaging How-ToCreate a Text-Only Message

2.1. Create a Text-Only Message

Updated 04.10.17

You must obtain explicit permission from each recipient before you can send SMS messages to them.

FIRST, REQUEST PERMISSION TO TEXT

  1. From the Contacts menu, choose Contacts, then select some (or all) contacts to whom to send your request

  2. From the Actions bar, select Send Mobile Invite

  3. Responses will come back in real time.  Any (and ONLY) contacts that provide permission by responding with Y (yes) will be able to receive SMS Text messages from you. Contacts that respond with N (no) or do not respond have not provided permission and cannot be texted.

Once you've obtained permission to text, you can send SMS messages:
  1. From the Messages menu, choose Create New Message

  2. From the Share Your Message page, choose Make My Own, Select a Template, or Listing Marketing (Create New or Select a Listing) depending on the landing page you'd like for your mobile text message to land on.

  3. Follow the prompts to create and save your mobile message's landing page. If you're not going to use a landing page, just click Save & Continue for this step.

  4. On the Email Details page, create a message name if you'd like to be able to find it later. If you do this, you'll need to add an Email Subject Line also, even though you're not emailing the message (system requirement). If you do email your message, extra charges will automatically apply.

  5. Click the Create Mobile Message tab

  6. In the STEP 3 field, type your mobile message.

  7. Then click the down arrow from the  STEP 1 option, if you created a landing page for your message.  Alternately, you may insert a link to an outside web page using the STEP 2 option (insert the URL link into the field, then click the down arrow).

  8. Scroll to the Who Do You Want to Receive This Message section, and choose recipients either by Group, or Individually. The Copy/Paste feature won't work since you must first obtain permission to text.
  9. Schedule your message: For the Email Portion choose Save as a Draft (if you email your message, extra charges will automatically apply unless you're an Email Tools subscriber also).  For the Mobile Message portion, choose Save as Draft, Send Now, or Schedule Delivery - Note: all send times are eastern time.  (If you have not selected recipients for your message yet, you can only Save as Draft.)

NOTE that when scheduling messages for a later date, you MUST activate the Schedule Delivery radio button to activate the calendar.  If you schedule a future date, then click the Send Now radio button, the scheduled date will be removed, and your message will be sent immediately.  Sent messages cannot be recalled or undone.

A copy of your finished product will automatically be saved in your My Messages feature.  If you archive your message before it's actually sent, it will not be sent

  10. Click Save & Continue.  All events will be sent at their individually scheduled times.
